Heather Esper leads the Performance Measurement Initiative at the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan. She has 11 years of experience in leading partnerships, research and assessments of organizations’ economic, social and environmental performance and outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. She participates in two consortiums with the USAID Global Development Lab focused on designing and testing new approaches to monitoring, evaluation, research and learning systems that better inform innovation and scale in complex settings. Additionally, Esper participates in a number of working groups and advisory panels exploring solutions to current measurement challenges including the Social and Human Capital Coalition, Global Impact Investing Network’s update of the Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS), and two World Economic Forum working groups focused on improving impact measurement. Esper also is an active member of the Social Impact Measurement group within the American Evaluation Association.
